DAY 1 – Arrival in Iceland |
|
Pick up you rental car at Keflavík Airport and drive to your hotel. Depending on arrival /departure time of your flight, we recommend that you explore some of the wonders of Reykjanes peninsula, f.e. the Blue Lagoon, on your way to/from your hotel on the first/last day. The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa where guests can relax in warm geothermal seawater. |

DAY 2 – South |

Visit 3 of the most famous spots in Iceland, the National Park Thingvellir, Iceland's greatest historical site and jewel of nature, where the first parliament in the world was founded in 930, the famous Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss, the queen of Icelandic waterfalls. |

DAY 3 – South cost |

Today the landscape is dominated by Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Visit the National Park of Skaftafell with its unique locations set between mountains, sands, rivers and glaciers and don’t miss a boat trip among the icebergs on the amazing glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón. |

DAY 4 – South - East |

Today the landscape is dominated by Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Visit the National Park of Skaftafell with its unique locations set between mountains, sands, rivers and glaciers and don’t miss a boat trip among the icebergs on the amazing glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón. |

DAY 5 – East Fjords |

Visit the nice fishing village of Höfn before you continue your route up the beautiful East Fjords, each of them offering attractions of various kind. |

DAY 6 – North - East |
|
Drive over the vast highland terrain of the North East and arrive in Mývatn area, one of the most spectacular places in Iceland. Mývatn is the 4th largest lake in the country. The birdlife, the craters, volcanoes and nature sculptures are among sights people love to observe and explore. You can also experience Mývatn Nature Baths, northern Iceland's answer to the Blue Lagoon in the south. |

DAY 7 – North |

Continue exploring the Mývatn area and then proceed north to the town of Husavik, the whale watching capital of Iceland. Drive on from there and explore the north coast at Tjörnes and even further east the National Park of Jökulsá-canyon with attractions like Ásbyrgi (enclosed canyon ) and the magnificent waterfall Dettifoss (summer only). Continue to the nice capital of the North, Akureyri. |

DAY 8 – North - West |

Today you drive on main road 1 through the Nort-West of Iceland, a district renowned for its many historical sites, interesting museums and Icelandic horse breeding. At the north coast you would be able to look for seals at some places. Drive on south to Borgarfjördur area. |

DAY 9 – West - South |

Borgarfjördur is one of the most prosperous regions of the country and there you will find many historical sites and beautiful nature. The cultural centre at Reykholt, home of the famous Saga writer Snorri Sturluson, Deildartunguhver, the largest thermal spring in Iceland, Hraunfossar lava-falls, the small town Borgarnes are just examples of the many attractions to visit. Continue via Hvalfjördur (Whalefjord) to Reykjavik. |

DAY 10 – Reykjavík |

Reykjavik is the charming capital city of Iceland, a modern and friendly city with a lot of attractions. Spend your last day exploring some of the highlights; visit the museums, go shoping or explore the night life. |

DAY 11 – Departure |

Drive to the international airport Keflavik (50 km). Drop off your rental car before departure! |
