Winter: December - January - February

In the December month of winter the Icelandic people try to counter the darkness with putting up enormous amount of lights. This creates a wonderful and unique holiday atmosphere. There is plenty to eat with all the Christmas buffet. Christmas in Iceland is a great experience with all its activities, concerts, skating and shopping. Not to forget the thirteen Santas. The new years experience in Iceland is like no other. Franticly trying to blow up the old year so that new may arrive the locals blow up massive amount of fireworks. After the holydays the day light is only 3-4 hours. For everyone who likes adventuring and enjoys the darkness this is a great time of year. Þorrablót is an old Icelandic festival where people enjoy traditional food. As all year around the is a lot of cultural events to choose from.
